The secret to a world-quality New Zealand artisan wine is a perfect vineyard site and a master winemaker. Te Rere Vineyard has both. We are located on the north-western part of Waiheke Island overlooking the Hauraki Gulf, where we have been producing high-quality wines since 2008.

Our location provides the perfect combination of maritime climate, soil conditions and passionate people to create some of New Zealand’s most profound wines.  The area is very similar climatically to the Medoc Region of France.

The creation of Te Rere Vineyard on Waiheke Island in 2006 was undertaken in a similar manner as the construction of the spectacular house that sits on the land with the sole goal of producing an uncompromising wine.

Waiheke Island brings an abundance of impoverished sandy/ gravelly clays that produce the well-known Waiheke vibrant reds. The result is some of New Zealand’s highest quality Bordeaux-inspired reds with “unique earth expressions” that create ultra-fine NZ artisan wines.

Above the house are 1.0 hectares of Chardonnay grapes which have been planted on northwest facing free draining soils. Below the house are 2.4 hectares of Syrah grapes on steep slopes facing northwest flowing down to the sea which are subject to the Waiheke summer intense heat and sea winds.
