<image:caption>2020 Te Rere Pinot Gris *4.5 STARS* The distinctive 2020 vintage (4.5*) is a blend of hand-picked Pinot Gris (87 per cent) and Gewürztraminer (13 per cent). A mouth filling, lively, youthful wine with pale lemon colour, it has strong, vigorous pear, lychee, peach and spice flavours, showing very good intensity and complexity, fresh acidity and a lingering, off-dry finish. <image:caption>2020 Te Rere Reserve Chardonnay *93 POINTS - EXCELLENT* There’s a distinctive richness and personality to the bouquet with a mix of fresh stone fruits and grapefruit then a lees and sweet nut quality, spices of new barrel and some wood smoke. Plenty of weight and intensity as the wine touches the palate, flavours of apples and peach, white flesh stone fruit and brazil-nut butter quality. The oak stands out as the wine opens out on the palate and warms up - which will settle over time, tannins and acidity measure in well. Ideal drinking from late 2024 through 2030.</image:caption>

<image:caption>2020 Te Rere Motukaha Reserve Syrah *93 POINTS - EXCELLENT* Great concentration of colour with a core of purple and ruby and pinkish rim, leading to a bouquet of dark plums and baked raspberry. Complexity and youthful power, a core concentration driven by fruit and barrel with a varietal drive. There’s also a smoky iron sand quality adding further complexity. Dry on the palate with a firm mouthfeel, there’s a mix of ripe and tart red berry fruit flavours, plenty of tannins and a back bone of acidity. Best drinking from 2025 through 2031+.</image:caption>

<image:caption>2023 Te Rere Motukaha Reserve Chardonnay *4.5 STARS* Grown at Te Rere Estate - four coastal sites totalling 2.4 hectares, at the western end of Waiheke Island - the 2023 vintage was handled for 10 months in French oak barriques. Bright, light yellow/green, it is medium to full-bodied, fresh and vibrant, with strong, vigorous, citrusy, slightly peachy flavours, finely integrated oak, and a dry, savoury finish. From a growing season that "presented some challenges", it could easily be mistaken for a South Island Chardonnay. Still youthful, it should be at its best 2028+.</image:caption>

Currently delicious, with full, youthful colour, it is mouthfilling and vibrant, with a lovely spread of ripe, red berry, plum and spice flavours, complex and savoury, balanced acidity, and a very harmonious, rounding finish. <image:caption>2021 Te Rere Reserve Chardonnay *92 POINTS - PREMIUM* An enticing wine filled with aromas and flavours of apricots and peaches, sweet barrel spices, new wood flavours and a youthful energy. Baked yellow apple and vanilla, some cashew nut and burnt butter flavours, a sweet lees and roasted pineapple note. Full-bodied, new, lots of drive and energy. There’s no mistaking the impact of oak, though this will settle given time, acidity and tannins add texture and length and there’s a fine lees taste on the finish. Well made, just keep in cellar for longer with best drinking likely from late 2025 through 2032+. Just a little young still.</image:caption>

<image:caption>2021 Te Rere Motukaha Reserve Syrah *94 POINTS - EXCELLENT* Very attractive varietal bouquet, ripeness, spice and complexity. Aromas and flavours include raspberry and dark chocolate, spiced meats with a black pepper quality, dark spices of clove and baked vanilla pod, some tar, marmite, stones and roses. Taut, youthful, firm and dry with bold tannins and a backbone of acidity. The flavours of dark berries and spice are persistent and the spiced meat and pepper qualities also remain. Lengthy, balanced and well made a wine to be enjoyed with food as it ages. Best drinking from 2025 through 2034+.</image:caption>
